How to Read a CBD Label: Strength, Servings, Ingredients, and THC

A simple guide to understanding CBD labels, including total CBD, CBD per serving, ingredients, THC information, storage, and safety guidance.

Start with total CBD content

Most CBD products show the total amount of CBD in the full product.

For example, CBD Oil 30ml · 1000mg means the bottle contains 1000mg of CBD in total. That does not mean you take 1000mg at once. It simply tells you the overall CBD content of the bottle.

Total CBD helps you understand the strength of the product as a whole.

Check CBD per serving

The next important detail is the amount of CBD per serving.

This is often the most useful number for daily use.

  • CBD Gummies · 30 Gummies contain 10mg of CBD per gummy
  • CBD Beverage Booster · 250ml provides 10mg of CBD per pump
  • CBD Oil 30ml · 1000mg provides approximately 1.7mg of CBD per drop

Look at the ingredients

Ingredients matter.

A clear CBD label should tell you what the product is made from, not just how much CBD it contains.

For example, Mojo Apothecary products use organically grown hemp cold-pressed into extra virgin olive oil, with each format built around a simple product experience.

Some products may also include ingredients such as cocoa, acacia powder, mushrooms, fruit and vegetable extracts, or natural flavourings, depending on the format.

Understand THC information

CBD and THC are different compounds.

CBD is non-intoxicating, while THC is the compound most commonly associated with the high linked to cannabis. In the UK, CBD products must comply with rules around THC and other controlled cannabinoids.

In the UK, responsible CBD products should be supported by lab testing showing that THC and other controlled cannabinoids remain within the applicable legal threshold. Current Home Office guidance refers to no more than 1mg of each controlled cannabinoid per container.

For buyers, this means it is helpful to choose products from brands that take formulation, testing, and compliance seriously.

Check how to use the product

A CBD label should also explain how the product is intended to be used.

  • how many drops, gummies, or servings to take
  • whether the product is added to food or drink
  • whether it should be stored in a cool, dry place
  • whether it should be avoided during pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • the recommended daily limit

Do not ignore storage and safety guidance

CBD products should be stored properly to help maintain quality.

Many products should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Some may have guidance about how soon to use them after opening.

Safety information is also important. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or managing a health condition, it is best to speak with a qualified healthcare professional before using CBD.

A clear label is part of the product experience

CBD is easier to enjoy when the information is clear.

A thoughtful label should explain the product without overwhelming you. It should help you understand the format, strength, serving size, ingredients, and guidance in a calm, straightforward way.

That clarity is part of what makes a CBD product feel premium, responsible, and easy to trust.
